The Daoist idea is to stay flexible like a five-year-old. With every year of training, the Daoists strive to become younger. Flexibility is an important factor when one wants to stay young; nothing can tear if the tendons and muscles remain soft. Improved flexibility also means that our body becomes more power-efficient because you don’t have to use more tension to work against your inner resistance, resulting from hard tissue in fascia, unelastic tendons, and muscles.
