The Wudang Cloud Shoes have an ancient tradition! Any serious practitioner of Wudang style should have at least one pair of these! And here is the reason why:
The meaning of Wudang Cloud Shoes
Each Cloud shoe has five white spots on each side which symbolize “human being” and “the way of life”. In summary, each shoe has ten spots which are referred to as “clouds”. These symbolize “rebirth” or “going back to unity”. The number ten has greater meaning in Taoism as it symbolizes the “creation” and “the principles of Yin and Yang”. This reference can be found in the symbol of 氣 (Qi) and 十(Ten). On a closer look, the cross shape in the left corner is equal which symbolizes the influence of Yin and Yang and the direction (path) in both ways. In the simplified writing, this reference is left out.
The Wudang Cloud Shoes refer to the way of life and the return to unity to the ten thousand things. The ten thousand things are not countable or imaginable, but symbolize the manifestation of a whole – the return to the Tao.
