My local courses in Styria
The atmosphere is supportive, not competitive. We're all at different stages, and that's perfectly fine. Beginners train alongside more experienced practitioners, and everyone learns from each other. I've seen complete newcomers become confident practitioners, and I've watched experienced martial artists completely rethink their approach after training with us. I genuinely look forward to meeting you and training together. There's something meaningful about sharing these practices in person, watching someone discover what their body can do, and being part of their journey through the internal arts.

Training for Everyone
My classes welcome people of all ages and experience levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or you've trained in martial arts before, the training adapts to fit you. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all instruction. Everyone's body is different, everyone's goals are different, and everyone learns at their own pace. That's fine. I adjust the difficulty based on where you are right now, not where someone thinks you should be.
What Makes These Courses Special
These courses offer something you won't find everywhere. I focus on consistent, systematic training because that's what actually works. No shortcuts, no magic tricks—just solid practice that builds real skill over time. Here's the thing about martial arts: flashy techniques might look impressive, but they mean nothing without a strong foundation. That's why we work through regular repetition and steady practice. Each time you repeat a movement, you're not just going through the motions—you're teaching your body to remember, to respond naturally, to move with precision. This approach takes patience. Some students want to rush ahead, learn the advanced stuff right away. I get it. But I've spent decades in this practice, and I can tell you that skipping the fundamentals always catches up with you later. The students who stick with the systematic approach, who embrace the repetition, are the ones who truly progress. You'll notice improvements in ways you might not expect. Your balance gets better. Your movements become smoother. Things that felt awkward start to feel natural. That's what proper training does—it builds understanding in your body, not just your mind. Whether you're completely new to martial arts or you've trained before, this method works. We meet you where you are and help you develop real technique that stays with you. Every session adds another layer of understanding, and over time, those layers create something solid you can rely on.
When Can You Start?
You can start training anytime! Joining us is simple and straightforward. Just wear comfortable clothes that let you move freely, and bring flat shoes without heels if possible. This isn't just about comfort—proper footwear and clothing actually help you perform the movements correctly, which makes a real difference in your training progress.
Stay in Contact
After your first training session, I'll invite you to join our WhatsApp group. This is where we keep everyone connected and informed about what's happening. You'll get updates on training schedules, any changes to sessions, special events, and general announcements. It's the fastest way to stay in the loop, so you're never left wondering if training is happening or if something's changed.
Proper Form Matters
With deep internal practices like these, correct technique is crucial. When you perform movements incorrectly, several things can happen—none of them good. You might slow down your progress, miss out on the real benefits of the practice, or even hurt yourself over time. That's why I pay close attention to your body position and natural posture throughout every training session. I'm not just watching you go through the motions—I'm looking at how your body moves, where you hold tension, whether your alignment is right. If something's off, I'll correct it right away. These corrections aren't criticism. They're essential. Small adjustments in your posture can completely change how an exercise works. A slight shift in weight distribution, a different angle in your stance, proper alignment of your spine—these details make the difference between just moving and actually training correctly. Every session is an opportunity to refine your form and ensure you're positioned to get the maximum benefit from your practice. This kind of hands-on guidance is why in-person training matters so much, especially for internal arts where the subtleties are everything.

Kungfu for Children and Qigong for Adults, 8411 Hengsberg
My Kungfu classes in Hengsberg, nestled in the beautiful Murtal valley. This program is designed primarily for children (minimum age 8), with space for interested adults to train alongside in a separate group.
Young students will learn the fundamentals of traditional Wudang Kungfu through engaging, age-appropriate training. We focus on basic stances, movements, and forms that build coordination, discipline, and confidence. The practice teaches children respect, focus, and body awareness while developing strength and flexibility in a fun, supportive environment.
Adults who join will work on the same traditional foundations but at their own pace and depth, exploring the martial principles and internal aspects of the training.
Kungfu training offers benefits for all ages – improved balance, mental clarity, self-discipline, and a deeper connection to body and mind through movement.
Following the Kungfu class, I teach Qigong for adults at the same location. In this welcoming space, we practice two traditional Qigong forms: Wuxing Qigong (Five Animals Qigong) and Baduanjin Qigong (Eight Brocades).
Wuxing Qigong works with the five elements of Chinese medicine – wood, fire, earth, metal, and water – to harmonize your energy and restore balance. Baduanjin, known as the Eight Brocades, is a gentle yet powerful sequence that strengthens the body, calms the mind, and supports overall health and vitality.
These ancient practices are accessible to everyone, regardless of fitness level. Through mindful movement, breathing exercises, and meditation, you'll learn to cultivate inner peace, reduce stress, and connect more deeply with your body's natural wisdom.
Dr. Gernot Träger's ordination in Hengsberg provides a peaceful, welcoming space ideal for our practice. The quiet atmosphere supports focused training and inner cultivation. Wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement. Bring an open mind and willingness to learn – no previous experience is necessary. I'm here to guide you through each step of the practice. I look forward to training with you!
